Homework
What is Homework?
Homework is work that is set to be done outside the timetabled curriculum. It contains an element of independent study in that it is not usually directly supervised by a teacher. It is important in raising student achievement.
Not all homework is done at home; in fact, for some students who find it hard to work at home, or for some tasks which may require resources (books, software, equipment) more readily available at school, it is necessary or desirable to carry out the task at school.
How is Homework set?
All homework is posted online via Microsoft Teams, part of Microsoft 365. Most students will be familiar with this product. Please see our Microsoft 365 page.
How much homework will be set and how often?
Homework tasks will not always be set in all subjects and those subjects with 2 homeworks per week may combine them into one longer homework, but students will then be given a full week for completion.
Year 7, 8 & 9
Homework tasks should take about 30-40 minutes each.
Year 10 & 11
In Years 10 and 11, homework tasks could each take up to an hour
Satchel One / Show My Homework (SMHW) has been retired.
From September 2024 we will be using Microsoft Teams, part of Microsoft 365.
Most students will be familiar with this product. Please see our Microsoft 365 page.
The website to use is www.office.com , and select Teams from the 'App Launcher' (top left corner) or Apps icon.
When the browser is not supported (you are likely using a phone/tablet) - you will be prompted to download the relevant App for your device.
Parents are not able to access Microsoft 365. Only the student is aware of their school password.
Students with password problems need to see their computer teachers, or IT Support in middle floor Nichols.
If you have successfully used a school computer, you have all the information you need to sign in to M365.
